Studiowide moves in..

I have an exciting week ahead of me, as I have Studiowide's beautiful camera to play with... all to myself! Studiowide is also ready to set up shop (so to speak). Today I helped my freelance boss figure out the layout of the gorgeous office in Rodney Street, it's going to look great once all the furniture is in...

Next week I'm Shadowing Louise Lowe, a brilliant Liverpool based photographer on a fashion shoot, so its swatting up time now!

The pretty white stuff

I went for a little walk through Wigan park the other day, and decided to capture the beauty of the snow! Even though it can be a pain, you have to admit that snow is very pretty...

Loidis

Beki and I got caught up last wednesday in the student protests in Leeds.
The funniest sign that I saw read: "Is this the queue to see Justin Bieber?"
After we got out of the crowds we got on a bus to a lovely town called Otley to visit a great creative agency.
We thought the agency had a charming family feel and it was in a great location with a lovely scenic view with a river just at the end of the car park. It definitely had a warm close feeling... just what we're looking for...

London

Beki and I went to London last week to see a few agencies... such as Ruby and JWT, we had fun and gained alot from what they said about our book.

We also went to Camden - where Beki was in her element...

Team Reilly&Riley at Waggledance

Ok so we haven't blogged in a while, and that's just because we've been so busy! We have been working together at a new advertising agency in Manchester called Waggledance, previously known as Pravda.

We have learned so much there and grown well together as a team!

Overall we've had a month at Waggledance and are very sad to leave. We will miss the different briefs and clients we had to work with such as WD-40, Garners Pickled Onion and Grey's Fishing tackle. And we'll definitely miss the fooseball tournaments!

We will post some of our ideas up real soon, for now its the end of the beginning for Team Reilly&Riley...

ciao!

Emma at TG Worldwide - Manchester

So for the past 2 months after graduation i've been working at a direct marketing place in Manchester. It was only a temporary job but I have learned so much. I have gained a lot of customer service skills, confidence and a more optimistic and positive view on things.

While at TG I travelled down to Brighton and also went down to London to a few conferences, these trips certainly made me learn lots about business. Even though this job was not in the right creative path that I want to go down, I am very happy that I did it. I have learned so much about myself and it has given me a fresh look on the creative path me and Beki are now set to achieve.

Now back to work for team Reilly/Riley!

Beki Reilly joins Studiowide

I've landed a freelance job with Liverpool based company Studiowide, I've worked with Carl Da-Costa-Greaves before when we worked for KCTS so its good to have my sidekick back again!

heres my first piece of work, a flyer for FYI chocolates, that are unique because they actually contain special ingrediants that enhance moods! The flyer will be in wedding gift packages so i decided to base the concept on pleasing the Mother-in-Law.

Now time for the challenges of the big wide world!

my movie of the week

So I got a treasure in the post this week, 500 days of summer! I’ve seen both Joseph Gordon-Levit In ‘Brick’ and Zooey Deschanel in ‘Yes man’ so I had a feeling it would be a good-un! The story was really good not your typical love story and it revolved around the music of the smiths so that’s always a bonus!

What I like most about the film was the way it was delivered. The expectation VS reality spilt screen I thought was really clever and totally relatable to anyone who has got their hopes up over a potential partner…

I like films that make you want to make the most of every situation and this is definitely one of those…!

D&AD awards

We have just returned from London after going down to support our close friends Sarah Mullen and Kui Fai Tung who were nominated for D&AD this year. Sarah was commended on her Fred Perry Subculture viral, and Fai came away with a second for his which ambient media campaign.... well done guys!!

It may have been 5 hours on a coach but it was definitely worth it... we had an absolutely amazing time at the awards and even got in some sight-seeing, the futurising exhibit and a trip to see the queen's diggs.

Visit England brief for BJL

We've been working closely with advertising agency BJL over the past few months.. they set us a challenge to encourage England to holiday at home!

We decided to make it a tad more interesting by trying to promote to naturists to holiday in England. We have a couple of ideas at the moment in the pipeline but we've posted up our favourite...

"REBECCA CLAIRE REILLY!"

This year we have been lucky enough to work on a live brief for a very important new product, voice alert.

Voice alert is a component for a traditional smoke alarm that wakes up children faster using the sound of a parents voice. Studies show that 85% of children do not wake in sufficient time to react in a smoke alarm, so we were very interested in bringing this knowledge to light.

Have you ever done something naughty as a child? Used your mums expensive lipstick on the walls, made mud pies in your parents manicured garden, and what is the response apart from a swift kick to the back-side? YOUR FULL NAME....

"REBECCA CLAIRE REILLY!"

This immediately tells me I am about to or I am already doing something I shouldn't... When I hear this, i know i am in trouble...

Our campaign focuses on the power that a parents voice can have over a child.... and the establishment of saying someone's full name has with being in trouble

Our direct mail shows how effective Voice Alert can be in waking up a child, by having a child pop out of the bed in the voice activated card when it is opened...

Rileys Sausages Part 2.

We've developed Rileys sausages!

We've added some interactive adshels to our campaign, because men are our target audience we wanted to promote a manly competition... The harder you squeeze the ketchup bottle on the on the adshel the more sauce lands on the pig!

Rileys Sausages Part 1.

To encourage the Manchester man to eat Riley's sausages.

Final scamps for Riley's Sausages campaign.

Tuesday 2 March 2010

Some might say that people take their ears for granted, but we think, let them dance and wiggle with you, especially to some of the music on the subculture website.

Our concept demonstrates the wonders of letting the ear loose, and then getting other people involved by setting a competition (twin website). This gives the audience a chance to be creative in their own way.

Please press play above and watch our viral advert.

The iphone application works by touching the ear lobe or the tip of the ear and as you make it dance the music plays in time.

Rise and Shine

We love designing Direct Mail with a difference, our idea for Warburtons literally shows how fresh the bread they make is, by having the mechanism of the post pop up like fresh bread!

Waxi winner!

Here's our 2nd place competition entry for the Waxi (Manchester's water Taxi) brief, set by Advertising agency BJL.

Saturday 2 January 2010

The Body Shop

Our idea focuses on the power of nature. The campaign shows the power of fruit, that even a tiny lemon has capabilities to power a light bulb. Our idea was to create an integrated campaign that has little or no effect on the environment and the only thing powering the campaign was fruit!

Reilly & Riley

we are a creative duo who have recently graduated from Salford University. We've been a team now for just under a year and have experience in the industry as a team and individually.

BEKI REILLY
The Art Director of the team, has worked over the past year for business management company KCTS as a Graphic Designer and is currently freelancing for Studiowide (Liverpool) as a creative thinker.

Riley on Reilly,
Beki Reilly, The ebay queen and reincarnation of a magpie... due her compulsion to anything shiny and vintage. She eats far too many dairylea dunkers and noodles, but this veggie has good design taste. Beki's inspiration tends to be from art, adverts, photography and the endless films she owns.
Her collection rivals blockbuster!

EMMA RILEY
The copywriter of the two, whilst studying she has had two placements; with Wigan Council producing brochures and leaflets and also working for graphic design company BD2. She currently is working at a direct marketing company in Manchester called TG Worldwide.

Reilly on Riley
Emma Riley is famous for her addiction to chillies (which she eats everyday without fail). She’s very into gardening and one day wants to be self sufficient, maybe even with a few chickens! Emma likes to ride her bike and see new places. Emma's greenfingers lend well to her design work and her interest in books feed her copywriting skills!
